Keywords:
Political skill, impression managementAbstract
The research aims to clarify the theoretical concepts of administrative topics that have recently emerged in recent years, as well as discovering the nature and type of the relationship of correlation and influence between political skill and impression management. The research sample was taken from the heads of scientific departments in the colleges of Al-Qadisiyah University, who numbered (56) individuals. A questionnaire was distributed. The questionnaire was prepared according to Ferris et al. (2005) model for political skill, and Erdogan (2011) model for impression management, and two main hypotheses were formulated according to the research plan that reflects this, as the treatment was carried out according to a set of descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The research came out with a set of conclusions, including what indicated the availability of an encouraging amount of dimensions of political skill among the sample studied, leading to raising the behaviors and methods of impression management, in addition to a number of conclusions that recommend the necessity of strengthening the ability of heads of scientific departments to exercise the influence of the dimensions of political skill through leadership training. University students learn how to understand and recognize the behaviors of others, as well as adapting and modifying their behaviors according to the situation they want to act on, to create a positive impression of them on their bosses, colleagues, and everyone around them, which then reflects greatly on the general work climate on the one hand and reduces its negative effects on the other hand.
