يُعَدُّ التصدير في الرواية العراقية أحد العناصر المهمة في بناء النص السردي، إذ يؤدي وظيفة تمهيدية تساعد القارئ على استيعاب أجواء الرواية وثيماتها الأساسية. وغالبًا ما يأتي التصدير على شكل اقتباسات أدبية، أو دينية، أو شعرية، أو حتى مقاطع فلسفية، وهو يرتبط بمضمون الرواية إما بشكل مباشر أو رمزي
