The study aimed to measure innovative thinking, both constructively and applied, among educational counselors in Basra Governorate, and to know the significance of the difference among the individuals of the research sample in general, and the significance of the statistical differences according to the variable (gender - service). The researchers used the descriptive approach. The researchers constructed a scale of innovative thinking based on Roschka’s definition, the theoretical framework, and previous studies. The study group consisted of 522 male and female guides, (182) males and (340) females. The study sample amounted to (200) male and female guides, (100) males and (100) females.
The researcher reached the following conclusions:
- The research sample of counselors generally possessed creative thinking.
- There were no statistically significant differences between male and female educational counselors in creative thinking.
- There were statistically significant differences according to the variable (service) and in favor of counselors with 5 years of service or more.
